Windows 8 Final Akan Dirilis Dalam 4 Versi
Akhirnya! Setelah bertahun-tahun banyak membingungkan para konsumen dengan beberapa rumor, Microsoft mengumumkan bahwa Windows 8 akan rilis hanya dalam empat versi
 
Satu untuk digunakan di rumah (Home Edition), satu untuk bisnis (Profesional), satu untuk perangkat yang menjalankan chip ARM (Windows 8 ARM), dan satu untuk besar perusahaan yang membeli dalam jumlah besar (Enterprise Edition).

Bagi kebanyakan orang membeli sistem operasi untuk desktop atau laptop tradisional, pilihan akan berada di antara dua versi. Versi itu disebut "Windows 8" dirancang untuk pengguna rumahan (Home Edition).
 
"Windows 8 Pro" adalah untuk pengguna bisnis dan termasuk fitur untuk mengenkripsi sistem file, virtualisasi, dan manajemen domain penuh.

"Windows RT" adalah nama baru untuk apa yang disebut Windows pada ARM. Anda tidak akan dapat membelinya sendiri secara terpisah; Fitur Itu akan terinstal pada PC dan tablet yang menjalankan prosesor ARM. Windows RT tidak akan dapat menjalankan perangkat lunak desktop  x86/64 Bit. Sebaliknya, ia akan berjalan dengan sentuhan pada aplikasi berbasis Windows Runtime (atau WinRT), Sebuah model pemrograman yang dimiliki Microsoft untuk aplikasi mobile.
 
Beberapa Aplikasi (Apps) untuk antarmuka sentuh Metro berorientasi dibangun menggunakan Windows Runtime.

Windows RT akan dirilis dengan sentuhan khusus yang berorientasi pada versi Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, dan OneNote.
